A.5. Summary

The information in this appendix is intended to take some of the anxiety, confusion, and mystery out of buying audio gear. Creating the ultimate web sound studio should be an exciting adventure, not a frightening journey into the great unknown. As you configure your system, remember that achieving high-quality web audio is the end result of superb talent, engineering skill, and excellent equipment. Good equipment alone will not produce great audio. Take time to read the equipment manuals and try to get the best possible voice or musical talent available. Pay a little extra money to hire an experienced voice-over artist or musician. Read Chapter 2, "The Science of Sound and Digital Audio", Chapter 3, "Capturing Original Source Material", and Chapter 4, "Optimizing Your Sound Files", to learn the basic engineering concepts and skills required to properly use your equipment.
